Beginning at 5am on Sunday, April 16th, 2017, Nashville StandUp will attempt to set a new GUINNESS WORLD RECORDS™ title for “LONGEST COMEDY VARIETY SHOW” at Third Coast Comedy Club in Nashville, TN as part of the Wild West Comedy Festival. Nashville Standup is the current record holder for “LONGEST STANDUP COMEDY SHOW – MULTIPLE COMEDIANS” – a record it has topped twice.

The non-stop, 24-hours-a-day, 8+ day schedule will feature showcases, feature-length, and headliner-length sets, and will include surprise drop-ins from comedians of various levels of fame and fortune (and infamy and misfortune) PLUS sketch and improv comedy group performances! The show is co-produced by Nashville-based comedians DJ Buckley, Chad Riden and Mary Jay Berger.

From April 12-20, 2015, NashvilleStandUp.com produced the first World Record setting #BrokenRecordShow in Nashville, Tennessee – a non-stop 184 hour, 16 minute long standup comedy show that more than doubled the previous GUINNESS WORLD RECORDS title of “Longest Stand-Up Comedy Show – Multiple Comedians.” The show featured about 100 comedians, including surprise celebrity guest sets from Hannibal Buress, Eric Andre, Rory Scovel, Nate Bargatze, Luis J. Gomez, Keith Alberstadt, Jon Reep, Ahmed Ahmed and Killer Beaz.

The only thing more pointless and silly than more than DOUBLING a world record would be topping your own title by just five minutes. Guess what we did? #BrokenRecordShow vol. 2 started at 5am May 15, 2016 and ran non-stop through 4:01pm May 24th as an official part of the Wild West Comedy Festival. That’s 227 hours and 1 minute. Due to a snafu which broke the show, the clock was restarted and the official record-breaking showtime was 184 hours and 21 minutes according to GUINNESS WORLD RECORDS rules. Over 120 comedians performed, including: Rory Scovel, Nate Bargatze, Jay Larson, Nick Thune, Geoff Tate, Ben Kronberg, Sara Tiana, Joe Derosa, Josh Wolf, Tom Simmons, Stewart Huff, Megan Gailey, Ahmed Ahmed, Dave Ross, and Myq Kaplan. Ben Kronberg said, “It was the most unique legit special comedy experience I’ve probably ever had.”

While conquering the “Longest Stand-Up Comedy Show – Multiple Comedians” record twice, the producers were constrained by very specific rules about what could be allowed on stage during the show. For #BrokenRecordShow vol.3, in order to compliment Third Coast Comedy Club’s mission to empower local artists to produce every form of comedy (stand-up, sketch, improv, comedic plays, variety shows, live podcasts, and talk shows), #BrokenRecordShow producers decided to try something new – setting a record for “LONGEST COMEDY VARIETY SHOW” including stand-up, sketch and improv acts.

It’s The Greatest Dumbest Thing We’ve Ever Done Again.. And Again.

#BrokenRecordShow vol.3 begins at 5am on Easter Sunday, April 16th, 2017 and continues through 9:26pm Sunday, April 23rd (senselessly beating #BrokenRecordShow’s “LONGEST STAND-UP COMEDY SHOW – MULTIPLE COMEDIANS” record’s run time by five minutes) for a total of 184 hours and 26 minutes.

GUINNESS rules dictate that there must be at least 10 audience members at all times. No matter what time of day or night, somebody will be on stage telling jokes, so go hang out. “DAY DRINKER” passes are available for just $5 from 5am – 5pm every day. 24-HOUR PASSES are $10 and ALL ACCESS and VIP options are also available which allow patrons to come and go as they please throughout the entire festival. Tickets are available at Third Coast Comedy Club and online.

Nashville, Tennessee – Beginning on Sunday, April 16th, 2017 at 5am, Nashville StandUp will attempt to top the GUINNESS WORLD RECORDS™ title for “LONGEST VARIETY SHOW” at Third Coast Comedy Club in Nashville, TN as part of the Wild West Comedy Festival. The current record is 100 hours, 49 minutes and was accomplished by Ranjini Kalakendra and Sri Sankara TV at Freedom Park, Bengaluru, India, February 6-10, 2015. Nashville Standup is the current record holder for “LONGEST STANDUP COMEDY SHOW – MULTIPLE COMEDIANS” – a record it has topped twice.

The non-stop, 24-hours-a-day, 8+ day schedule will feature showcases, feature-length, and headliner-length sets, and will include surprise drop-ins from comedians of various levels of fame and fortune (and infamy and misfortune). The show is co-produced by Nashville-based comedians DJ Buckley, Chad Riden and Mary Jay Berger.

#BrokenRecordShow’s website declares, “It’s The Greatest Dumbest Thing We’ve Ever Done Thrice.”

While conquering the marathon comedy show record, producers were constrained by very specific rules about what could be allowed on stage during the show. In order to compliment Third Coast Comedy Club’s mission to empower local artists to produce every form of comedy (stand-up, sketch, improv, comedic plays, variety shows, live podcasts, and talk shows), this year the #BrokenRecordShow team decided to attempt to top the “LONGEST VARIETY SHOW” record, which allows a wider variety of types of acts in addition to everybody’s undisputed favorite – hilarious stand-up comedy.

“If there was a GUINNESS WORLD RECORDS™ title for ‘The Most Times A Group Of Idiots Broke The Same World Record Even Though Nobody Else Has Tried To Top Them Because What They’re Doing Is So Incredibly Silly,’ we’d go after that one too,” said #BrokenRecordShow producer Chad Riden.

From April 12-20, 2015, NashvilleStandUp.com produced the first World Record setting #BrokenRecordShow at The East Room in Nashville, Tennessee – a non-stop 184 hour, 16 minute long standup comedy show that more than doubled the previous GUINNESS WORLD RECORDS™ title of “Longest Stand-Up Comedy Show – Multiple Comedians.” The show featured about 100 comedians, including surprise celebrity guest sets from Hannibal Buress, Eric Andre, Rory Scovel, Nate Bargatze, Luis J. Gomez, Keith Alberstadt, Jon Reep, Ahmed Ahmed and Killer Beaz.

By more than doubling the previous record of 80 hours, this non-stop stand up comedy marathon put Nashville into the record books of comedy history. A GUINNESS WORLD RECORDS™ title Adjudicator was on site to certify the attempt as an official world record on Wednesday April 15th at 8pm.. but the show kept going until Monday, April 20th, at 4:20am. Hundreds of people attended the event and even more watched online. The successful attempt was covered by many local and international media outlets and mentioned in countless social media posts.

“It was the greatest, dumbest thing we ever did,” says Riden. “The only thing more pointless and silly than more than DOUBLING a world record would be topping your own GUINNESS WORLD RECORDS™ title by just five minutes. Guess what we did?”

#BrokenRecordShow vol. 2 started at 5am May 15, 2016 and ran non-stop through 4:01pm May 24th as an official part of the Wild West Comedy Festival. That’s 227 hours and 1 minute. Due to a snafu which broke the show, the clock was restarted and the official record-breaking showtime was 184 hours and 21 minutes according to GUINNESS WORLD RECORDS™ rules. Over 120 comedians performed, including: Rory Scovel, Nate Bargatze, Jay Larson, Nick Thune, Geoff Tate, Ben Kronberg, Sara Tiana, Joe Derosa, Josh Wolf, Tom Simmons, Stewart Huff, Megan Gailey, Ahmed Ahmed, Dave Ross, and Myq Kaplan. Ben Kronberg said, “It was the most unique legit special comedy experience I’ve probably ever had.”

#BrokenRecordShow vol.3 will begin at 5am on Sunday, April 16th, 2017. The current “LONGEST VARIETY SHOW” record will be topped at 9am, Thursday, April 20, but the show will continue through 9:26pm Sunday, April 23rd (senselessly beating #BrokenRecordShow’s “LONGEST STAND-UP COMEDY SHOW – MULTIPLE COMEDIANS” record’s run time by five minutes) for a total of 184 hours and 26 minutes.

Tickets are on sale online now: ALL ACCESS passes allow fans to come and go as they please for the entire show / week and are available at a special EARLY BIRD price of $40. After April 1 at Noon, ALL ACCESS tickets will sell for $60 online and at the door. VIP passes are also available and include special reserved seating, a t-shirt, a letterpress show print and other perks. 24-HOUR passes will be available at the door for $10, and a special DAY DRINKERS pass will be available at the door from 5am – 5pm for just $5.

We’re going to break our own GUINNESS WORLD RECORD by five minutes May 15-23, 2016

#BrokenRecordShow 2016 promo image

#BrokenRecordShow vol. 2 - May 15-23, 2016 at The East Room.

Beginning at 5am on Sunday, May 15th, 2016, Nashville StandUp will attempt to top it’s own GUINNESS WORLD RECORDS™ title for “LONGEST STAND-UP COMEDY SHOW – MULTIPLE COMEDIANS” at The East Room in Nashville, TN.. by five minutes.

Nashville StandUp’s first “Broken Record Comedy Show” ran non-stop at The East Room in Nashville, Tennessee, beginning Sunday, April 12, 2015 at 12:04pm with DJ Buckley and ending Monday April 20 at 4:20am with Chad Riden, setting the new GUINNESS WORLD RECORDS™ title at 184 hours, 16 minutes. The show featured about 100 comedians, including surprise celebrity guest sets from Hannibal Buress, Eric Andre, Rory Scovel, Nate Bargatze, Luis J. Gomez, Keith Alberstadt, Jon Reep, Ahmed Ahmed and Killer Beaz.

The previous 80-hour record had been held by the Laugh Factory in Hollywood, CA, for a show which ran December 6-9, 2010. By more than doubling the previous record, #BrokenRecordShow’s non-stop stand up comedy marathon put Nashville into the record books of comedy history. It was the greatest, dumbest thing we ever did.. and we’re going to do it again.

#BrokenRecordShow vol. 2’s non-stop 8+ day schedule will feature showcases, feature-length, and headliner-length sets, and will include surprise drop-ins from comedians of various levels of fame and fortune AND infamy and misfortune. The brainchild of Nashville-based comic DJ Buckley, this record-breaking show is being co-produced by Nashville-based comedian Chad Riden and The East Room’s Ben Jones.

Be a part of history.. again. Tickets are on sale NOW at special EARLY BIRD prices. Here’s the Facebook event, the Facebook fan pages for BrokenRecordShow & NSUP and the twitter accounts are @BrokenRecordSho & @NSUP.

It’s the greatest dumbest thing we’ve ever done twice.

“This show is the best thing I’ve ever done, and if it never stopped I’d be fine with it. Last year, I got to see a lot of funny comics and great people come together to work on something none of us could have accomplished by ourselves, and I think this year will be even better since we actually know what we’re doing this time.”

– D.J. Buckley is a lovable goofball who loves telling jokes and pushing limits

“If you asked me that old guidance counselor question, ‘if you could do anything in the world, what would you rather be doing right now?’ the answer would always be ‘a stand-up comedy show.’ We figured out a way to be able to do comedy all day, every day and it was a dream come true. I’ve missed the first showever since we ended it and I’m really excited to be doing it again. Maybe this time we just won’t ever stop. Nobody can ever beat our record if our show never ends.

The celebrity guest drop-ins are always exciting but watching young comics evolve is magical. The only way to develop as a comic is by getting stage time, and this show provides plenty of it. Last year, some comics took that opportunity and made incredible use of it. Personally, I logged about 30 hours on stage over the course of eight days. Most touring comics would take at least 5-6 weeks to do those kinds of numbers. It was crazy to see young comics who had previously thought they weren’t capable of doing a 30 minute set hone and pace themselves and master doing a half hour. You could see the comics who really put in the work develop right in front of you and grow so comfortable on stage that they were able to throw away the constraints of pre-written bits and totally improvise for hours and be funnier than they’ve ever been before.”

– Chad Riden is America’s Favorite Comedian Of All Time

“Breaking our own record this year is an attempt to further show the legitimacy of the comics in Nashville. To break the record by a mere 5 minutes is to compete with the absurdity of last year’s successful attempt to more than double the previous record.”

– Ben Jones, The East Room

Nashville StandUp’s “Broken Record Comedy Show” Shatters Previous GUINNESS WORLD RECORDS Title

Official GUINNESS WORLD RECORDS™ adjudicator Michael Empric presents the framed certificate to Chad Riden (left) and DJ Buckley (center).

NASHVILLE, Tenn., Apr. 23, 2015 — Nashville StandUp’s “Broken Record Comedy Show” ended its 184 hour, 16 minute run at 4:20am April 20, 2015, setting the new GUINNESS WORLD RECORDS™ title for: “LONGEST STAND-UP COMEDY SHOW – MULTIPLE COMEDIANS.”

Labeled as, “The Greatest Dumbest Thing We’ve Ever Done!” The show ran non-stop at The East Room in Nashville, Tennessee, beginning Sunday, April 12, 2015 at 12:04pm with DJ Buckley and ending Monday April 20 at 4:20am with Chad Riden.

The previous 80-hour record had been held by the Laugh Factory in Hollywood, CA, for a show which ran from 6 to 9 December 2010. That show included 170 different acts by 150 comedians.

The 80-hour mark was surpassed on Wednesday, April 15, 2015 at 8:04pm while DJ Buckley was performing. Official GUINNESS WORLD RECORDS™ adjudicator Michael Empric was on site to announce the new record saying, “I’m so excited to announce that with 80 hours and two minutes, you guys have set a new Guinness World Record!” The standing room only crowd at The East Room erupted into cheers, carrying co-host D.J. Buckley on their shoulders with the framed certificate from GUINNESS raised high above his head.

As the crowd settled down, co-host Chad Riden performed a set, saying he did not want the show to ever end. “If we never stop, nobody can ever beat us unless they already started before we did or we die first.” The show continued through the entire duration of Nashville’s Wild West Comedy Festival, which was conducive to celebrity drop-in sets from Hannibal Buress, Rory Scovel, Al Jackson, Eric Andre, Nate Bargatze, Keith Alberstadt, Ahmed Ahmed, Killer Beaz and Jon Reep.

The show finally began wrapping up Sunday night April 19th as the regularly scheduled weekly SPiFFY SQUiRREL Comedy Show presented the “Bestival of the Festival” showcase featuring stand-out performances from crowd favorites Mary Jay Berger, Brad Edwards, Carter Glascock, Monty Mitchell, Jonathan Craig, Brett Cantrell, Narado Moore, Joe Kelley and Jim Seward.

After an amazing set where Narado Moore improvised unflattering impressions of lackluster out of town guest comics, the marathon show came to an end early Monday morning, April 20th with show producers DJ Buckley and Chad Riden doing their final sets. “I want to do this again next year,” said Riden. “I think we have to. I want to break our own record by five minutes just to show that we know how silly and pointless this all is.” As the official clock neared 4:20 a.m., Riden thanked show co-producers Mary Jay Berger, Ben Jones and DJ Buckley, along with Zanies Comedy Clubs’ Brian Dorfman, comedian Nate Bargatze, the Wild West Comedy Festival, Outback Concerts, the dozens of volunteers who staffed the event, the comics who performed and everybody who was in attendance to a standing ovation before hopping off stage.

BROKEN RECORD COMEDY SHOW NashvilleStandUp.com World Record Attempt: 'LONGEST STAND-UP COMEDY SHOW – MULTIPLE COMEDIANS' April 12-19, 2015 The East Room

Nashville StandUp’s “LONGEST STAND-UP COMEDY SHOW – MULTIPLE COMEDIANS” world record attempt is coming up SOON: April 12-19, 2015 during the Wild West Comedy Festival at The East Room in Nashville, TN. Right now there are less than 40 hours left to get early bird prices on tickets & stuff from our IndieGoGo campaign.

First: THANK YOU to everybody who has already donated here or at our fundraiser show at Zanies or in person or online at NashvilleStandUp.com! The money that has already been delivered by IndieGoGo is being put to good use. If you haven’t donated yet, go right ahead with confidence. We have signed a contract with Guinness and this IS happening!

Also, THIS IS GREAT: a group of donors (we’re not at liberty to announce who yet) have pledged to pay whatever expenses we have that are not paid for by this crowd-funding campaign. Even if somehow THAT fell through (extremely unlikely), NASHVILLE STANDUP will pick up the rest of the bills itself out of pocket & hope to make the money back later in merch & ticket sales.

Comics: we’re currently booking time slots on the big show. Our list of comedians already scheduled to appear includes Nate Bargatze, Ralphie May, Billy Wayne Davis and many, many more. If you haven’t yet reserved your spot, GET ON IT. Time is running out. Before you pledge, MAKE SURE YOU QUALIFY! In case you missed our previous update, Guinness World Records rules say:

“All performers must be of a proficient standard. We define this as the comedians having at least 20 professional (paid) credits in a comedy club, theatre or bar and at least one year’s experience since their first paid gig. Evidence to prove this must be presented to the independent witnesses prior to the event and the witnesses must attest to this in their written statements.”

This means that before we can allow you to perform, you must give us a list of qualifying professional dates / shows. Sorry, slackers. Maybe next year.

We’re all very excited about this show & we’re glad you are too. Oh yeah, we’re calling it: BROKEN RECORD Comedy Show. Don’t skip it.
